Artist's Profile

An art school graduate, I have a textile design background and am very proud to be a member of the Society of Botanical Artists. Watercolour and acrylics are my favourite media when it comes to painting, but I'm also following a great passion for miniature work in three dimensions.  Initially inspired by one of my paintings of a vegetable shop window, I became totally fascinated with creating in 1/12th scale.

Much of my early work I created in clay, making silicone rubber moulds from which to cast plaster replicas of goodies for sale, painting each individual item and meticulously arranging all the goods on shelves. It seemed obvious to build a shop window to display my merchandise and then safely cocoon all in a frame.

As I became more and more absorbed in this new work, I began to use all sorts of media to make my creations, including some found objects and the superb polymer clay.  It's such a challenge to make each piece look as realistic as possible and I strive to be accurate when it comes to scale.

I hope you will enjoy peering into my little shop windows, each one has taken many hours to complete and I have enjoyed every minute!
